Peavine Fire, 2003

On July 14 2003, a brush fire on Peavine Peak northwest of downtown Reno charred 2,000 acres and threatened more than 150 nearby homes. It was fully contained two days later due to the efforts of dozens of fire engines, three helicopters and two air tankers. This telephoto panorama was made from the balcony of the high-rise condominium on the Truckee River where I lived at the time.
