RR Tracks Through Reno

RR Tracks Through Reno

From the time the Central Pacific Railroad pushed the western section of the Transcontinental Railroad through Reno in 1868 the tracks bisected the city north and south. Every time a train went through, traffic stopped. Putting the trains underground, in a trench running through the central part of the city, was the solution. This view was photographed in 2003. Now the tracks are contained in the trench, and the Golden Phoenix Casino has become a condominium.
