Although this scenic spot sits right below busy Hwy. 28, only a short hop from Reno over Mt. Rose, it still qualifies as secluded and, truly, “hidden.” Unless you know to stop, and peer over the guardrails, you would never know that there is a sandy strand down below, strewn with gigantic boulders at its margins reaching into the clear blue depths. It is a scene that might have been the winning project for a class of landscape architects. Bonus: there is no convenient parking, so the people who use the beach genuinely treasure it and really want to be there. Clothing optional. Clean up after your dog.
