Church’s Pond

Church’s Pond

This small snow-melt basin below Mt. Rose was named for James Church, the University of Nevada, Reno professor who in 1909 devised the technique to determine the water content of the Sierra snow pack. This is a spectacular Reno area hike in early-to-mid-October, climbing up White’s Creek canyon through numerous groves of aspen in their supersaturated autumn yellow. This two-node VR environment was compiled from photographs made in October of 2016 and 2018.
