The Middlegate Shoe Tree

The Middlegate Shoe Tree

Just east of the quirky roadhouse known as Middlegate Station, a 70′ tall shoe-bedecked cottonwood tree on the side of Highway 50 was the king of sole. It was, that is, until it was cut down by vandals at the end of 2010. Will it rise again? By 2017, a nearby tree is well on the way.

“King of sole” — that’s funny!

Apparently, according to a friend who lives nearby, a new shoe tree can be found in Idlewild Park. If I understood him correctly it’s new, since the loss of the real shoe tree.
